ClearView was started in 2021 by a remote-work consultant and a computer vision engineer who were tired of looking terrible on Zoom calls despite having fast internet and good lighting advice. They realized the webcam market hadn't innovated meaningfully since Logitech's C920 in 2012, and that AI-powered features like auto-framing and low-light correction could transform the remote meeting experience. Their first 4K webcam incorporated Sony's STARVIS sensor—typically used in security cameras—for exceptional low-light performance.
